Bio
Marci Green studied art at the University of Utah from 1998-2002. She favors oils because of their ability to convey depth and movement, and appreciates a well-placed swipe of paint, pressed into the canvas in a moment of thought. From her own battles with Lupus as well as the special needs of her children, she understands that life has many layers; some subtle, some transforming, some raw and distorting what's truly underneath. Her paintings reflect life's varied circumstances that ultimately translate into something beautiful.
Artist Statement
I use oils because of their ability to convey depth and movement. I love a well placed swipe of paint, pressed into the canvas in a moment of thought. I feel a sense of urgency when I am painting, a need for completion, and love the transformation process that occurs when the image in my mind appears on the surface of a painting. Life is planned, but also takes its unexpected course. This is how painting is to me, a reflection of life. We make plans, but our path is often driven by emotion and trials. My paintings follow the same journey, and like life, the end result is something you can look at and see the emergence of beauty.
